Today we did some gardening with the help from Mum and I purchased a bird table. Basically we have had the management for the flats has made a new area for the waste bins which is now out of the garden and easier for the dustbin men to get too.

Which means the garden now looks a lot neater and rubbish is no longer strewn across the grass because of the local foxes going through the bin bags. So we thought we would like to start to plant some plants and flowers in the garden…just to make it more pleasant and colourful.

So today as I said Faith-Lee helped Mum dig a section of the garden and cleared any weeds and some old grass clippings which Faith-Lee took away in bags and emptied behind the garages where other leaves and grass cuttings have been placed. She did ever such a good job carrying the bags, emptying them and returning for more…Mum couldn’t keep up!!

Mum had brought a number of plants which were cuttings from plants from her garden. Also she brought along a number of packet of seeds which were sprinkled all over the area we have been digging, there were also some seeds that attract birds so hopefully when they are growing / grown will attract a large variety of species. Faith-Lee again did a good job of digging the garden with the spade and was in charge of the plant feed when the holes were dug for the plants to be placed into.

Once the plants were planted and the seeds were sewn the garden was watered…by Faith-Lee…I must admit I thought water would be sprinkled all over the place but the garden, but she did a very good job of it!!

In all this time I put together a bird table that I got from B&Q this morning and has come together really well. We have some seeds that attract Finches and other seeds that will attract all sorts of other birds. So hopefully there will be a variety of birds visiting the back garden soon. I did see however a Robin Red Breast visit the garden at a distance either because he saw all the worms being dug up or he has spotted the bird table (or even both).

From the photo above you can see that the garden looks a lot better and also how the bird table looks good and loaded up with seeds ready for birds to come and feed…just another 60ft of garden to go!

The End
